Visual Review

Desaal Shiraz’s color sits confidently in the ruby range, deep and clear, with just a hint of garnet creeping in at the edges. It looks promising at first glance, dense enough to feel serious, yet still lively under the light. You’d expect a solid experience from what’s in the glass.
Aroma Review
The nose jumps out right away, pronounced and lively. There’s a fun mix of spice and fruit happening here: black pepper leads the charge, joined by a decent burst of black cherry and an almost cheeky hint of strawberry. The aromas come together nicely, with enough variety to keep you curious. So far, so good.

Taste Review
And then comes the taste, where the story gets complicated. The bodyis there, the acidity is light, and the tannins are barely noticeable. Everything feels balanced on paper. But then, out of nowhere, comes an uninvited guest : a harsh bitterness that bulldozes the rest of the flavors. The finish stretches on longer than you’d want, and not in a satisfying way, the same bitterness still haunting this wine.
There’s some structure and complexity here, and it could have been a decent Shiraz. Unfortunately, that overwhelming bitterness leaves you with more regret than pleasure. Overall, the wine is acceptable, but only just. The potential is limited, and so is the desire to pour a second glass.
