Visual Review

The Deccan Plateau Cabernet Sauvignon makes a strong first impression, with an intensely deep ruby colour and an almost opaque appearance. It has the kind of concentration in the glass that suggests there is no shortage of ambition here.

Aroma Review

The nose is a little more restrained, with light intensity and above average quality. Deep black cherry leads the way, followed by dark chocolate and a surprisingly pleasant smoky note. There is some variety, although the aromas could certainly be a little more expressive.

Taste Review

On the palate, this is a dry, distinctly flavoured wine with lively acidity and firm tannins. The body and alcohol feel relatively light, keeping it fresh and easy enough to drink, while the tannins provide plenty of grip. They are still rather harsh at this stage, but give them a few years and they should hopefully settle into something more polished. A touch more body would also help round out the acidity.

Despite these youthful edges, the wine is well balanced, with average complexity and a notably long, pleasant finish. It is an enjoyable drink with genuine aging potential, so there is plenty to look forward to if you have the patience to let it develop.
