Makazai

Makazai

Crafted in Goa by Stilldistilling Spirits, Makazai rum is encased in a beautifully designed packaging and initially captivates with its visual appeal. However, from the very first whiff until the last sip, it proves to be a disappointment. Despite the promising presentation, the aroma fails to impress and falls short of expectations. The taste journey leaves much to be desired, with flavors that fail to deliver the anticipated complexity or satisfaction.

Big Banyan L'angoor wine review

Tasting Notes:

Makazai rum exhibits a range of yellow hues, from a yellow golden color to a paler shade. The legs formed are thin and fast, suggesting a low level of viscosity.

The aroma reveals hints of vanilla, contributing to a subtle sweetness and accompanied by a slight fruitiness. Citrus notes reminiscent of lemon tart provide a tangy and zesty aroma profile. There is a strong and aggressive presence with spicy elements that make a noticeable impact and linger in the nose. In contrast, there is an extremely light smell, indicating a more delicate and subdued aromatic presence.

Makazai lacks texture and instead delivers a strong alcohol tingling sensation. Bitterness is notable throughout the tasting, although the duration of the flavors in the mouth is relatively short. Despite this, there is a decent level of smoothness present, accompanied by a neutral taste profile that carries an edgy character. Hints of bitter lemon and a muddy quality contribute to the overall taste experience. On the palate, a tingly sensation emerges, combined with the distinct flavor of clove and a persistent bitterness. The mouthfeel can be described as watery, with a pronounced presence of strong alcohol that imparts a prickly sensation. An enduring bitter aftertaste, accompanied by a touch of acidity, completes the tasting journey.
