Visual Review

Let’s start with the first impression, and it’s a pretty one. This wine shows up in your glass like it’s here to brighten your day. The colour leans toward lemony sunshine, and there’s something quietly showy about how clear and brilliant it looks.

Aroma Review

Then you take a sniff, and suddenly you’re somewhere warmer and much more fun. The aromas roll in with a good dose of citrus zest and tropical flirtation, lemon and pineapple leading the way, with a soft, buttery whisper underneath. There’s even a subtle breeze of freshness to the whole thing, it’s bright, it’s varied, and it’s confident enough to grab your attention without shouting.

Taste Review

Now, on to the sip, and here’s where things get a little… complicated. It starts off charming: dry, light-bodied, with a laid-back attitude when it comes to alcohol and viscosity. You expect an easy ride. But just when you’re settling in, a faint bitterness creeps in from the background like a surprise plot twist. Not a deal-breaker, but definitely changes the tone. That bitterness tips the balance a bit off-centre and brings an unexpected aggressiveness to an otherwise gentle scene
Still, the flavours are no wallflowers, the intensity is strong, and there’s a pleasant little sparkle (a soft petillance) that catches you off guard in the best way. It’s refreshing, lightly fizzy, and despite a few rough edges, quite likeable.

This Chardonnay has personality. Maybe not everyone’s type, but certainly worth a second date. With a touch of patience, or the right food pairing, it could shine even more. For now, we’ll call it a good wine with the potential to surprise you, for better or bitter.
