Visual Review

The colour is deep ruby, edging toward opaque, with an intensity that feels absolutely right for a wine of this ambition. The appearance is calm and rested.

Aroma Review

The aromas are pronounced and complex, with oak very much setting the tone, which feels appropriate given the name. Warm notes of vanilla and tobacco rise first, clearly shaped by barrel ageing, followed by mature forest floor aromas that add depth and maturity. Ripe black fruits such as blackberry and cherry bring a generous fruity layer, keeping the nose from drifting too far into pure structure. The overall quality of the nose is excellent, expressive without feeling overworked.

Taste Review

Medium body, matched by medium acidity and medium tannins that feel fine and well integrated. The wine is dry. Alcohol is noticeable and warming, but it stays well behaved, contributing to a cosy, enveloping feel rather than any aggression. Flavour intensity is strong, with fruity depth supported by oak maturation that remains clearly present without stealing the show. Balance is excellent, allowing fruit, structure, and wood to work together rather than compete.

Complexity builds through the tasting, and the finish is long and pleasant, leaving behind warmth, ripe fruit, and lingering oak notes. The experience is very enjoyable from start to end, with a structure that suggests very good ageing potential for those willing to wait, though it is already delivering plenty of pleasure now.
