Among the diverse offerings of Sikkim, Arucha wine stands out as a unique expression of the region’s flavors. It’s crafted from a special fruit also called Arucha, a plum variety that thrives in the Himalayan foothills. These plums are known for their juicy sweetness and blend of flavors that echo the crisp mountain air and vibrant flora of Sikkim.

Tasting Notes:
Arucha Wine displays a deep and captivating dark yellow with an amber undertone and exhibits good clarity, with no impurities visible to the naked eye, and boasts very low opacity. Upon swirling the wine in the glass, the liquid does not exhibit significant adherence to the sides of the glass. The absence of noticeable legs may indicate a moderate alcohol content and a lighter body, contributing to a smooth mouthfeel.
The initial aroma is reminiscent of ripe prunes, offering a luscious and sweet fragrance, then a pleasant and distinct fruity character emerges, with hints of apple adding a crisp and refreshing element. A subtle spiciness weaves its way through the aromatic profile.
Arucha Wine exhibits very low viscosity. The initial taste is marked by a prominent fruity sweetness, and tones reminiscent of a cooked wine. Midway through the tasting, a subtle acidity emerges, towards the end a light but persistent bitterness becomes apparent on the finish, reminiscent of fruit peel. This bitterness is less pleasant, offering a contrast to the initial sweetness.
One notable observation is the relatively short duration of sweetness and fruitiness, with these elements fading relatively quickly.
